Valerie McIntyre (she/her): Empowering Minds at Valiant Minds Counseling

Valerie McIntyre, LPC, ADHD-CCSP, CCATP: Founder of Valiant Minds Counseling

As the Owner and Lead Therapist at Valiant Minds Counseling and the author of A Journey to a Valiant Mind: Navigating Life with ADHD Towards Resilience, Self-Compassion, and Empowerment, I bring a wealth of experience in providing compassionate care and effective therapy to a diverse population. My dedication to empowering individuals, particularly those with ADHD, shines through both in my therapeutic work and my writing, which aims to educate, inspire, and guide readers on their journey toward self-understanding and growth.

Specializing in working with individuals with ADHD, I have honed my skills in helping clients understand their condition, develop coping strategies, and achieve personal growth. My client-centered approach tailors therapy sessions to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing and self-discovery.

I lead a team of experienced therapists dedicated to serving clients facing various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. At Valiant Minds Counseling, we are committed to promoting resilience, healing, growth, and empowerment in our clients’ lives. It is an honor to be part of their journey toward self-improvement and well-being.

As a seasoned Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with specialized certifications as an ADHD-Certified Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), I stand at the forefront of mental health care. With deep expertise in treating attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and related conditions such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), I bring a wealth of knowledge and compassion to my practice.

Earning my master’s in counseling from Chatham University in 2005, I have dedicated my career to supporting children, adolescents, and adults through their mental health journeys. My approach is firmly rooted in evidence-based methodologies, with a strong emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy (BT), Inference-Based CBT, and Schema Therapy, ensuring that my clients receive the most effective and research-backed interventions available.

Beyond these core practices, my therapeutic repertoire extends to a variety of modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of my clients. I skillfully integrate art therapy, existential/humanistic therapy, family systems theory, interpersonal therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy into my treatment plans. This eclectic approach allows for a truly personalized therapy experience, addressing the multifaceted aspects of mental health and fostering profound healing and growth.
